Elisabeth is a qualified herbal teacher and her kingdom is on the upper floor of the dreamy garden house of the Hotel Der Brandstetterhof in Stans. There is a herbal kitchen there where Elisabeth makes ointments and tinctures. And sometimes it smells wonderfully of freshly baked bread that she has put in the oven.

She is our family's herbalist and values the power that lies in herbs and medicinal plants. In her hometown around Stans she finds many plants on her walks or spontaneously goes into the mountains to collect herbs, roots, leaves, flowers or seeds.

Elisabeth is convinced that not only to treat ailments, but also when cooking, people should use more effective plants to maintain their health.

Ointments & Tinctures

Tops of larch and spruce trees, marigolds, comfrey and arnica or dill seeds. In her herbal kitchen, Elisabeth uses a lot of what nature gives us to make wound ointment, pain ointment, blood circulation ointment and more. She also has recipes for proven tinctures made from medicinal plants in her repertoire. We are amazed at her knowledge and continually convince ourselves of the effectiveness of the products she produces.

“The blood circulation ointment can also be good after a long walk,” says Elisabeth. A good tip after a hike in the Karwendel Nature Park.

Forest bathing is not really about bathing, but about actively absorbing the scents of the forest through long, soothing walks. The biophilia effect is greatest between April and October and has a positive effect on human health. Especially when it rains, you can smell the earthy scent of the forest and enjoy long walks with good hiking clothing.

Good bread takes time

Baking bread

Sometimes Elisabeth spontaneously bakes bread with guests. Sometimes she combines it with a herb walk in the garden and works the collected herbs into the dough for herb bread. While the dough rests, she explains details about the herbs to the guests.
When the finished baked goods are on the table, everyone agrees: freshly baked bread is simply irresistible.
